I wouldn't want it in my workplace, would you? It has only one place in the world and thats authenticating hotmail users.
That's not entirely true - close, but there's more to Live than JUST Hotmail.
In fact, if you want to subscribe to email based newsletters from Microsoft, you use your Live ID.
If you happen to be participating in the Vista Beta or Office 2k7 beta - guess what - yup, you got it, you use your Live ID.
