Consider that "Linux" itself is just the kernel, and everything above that is an optional part of a distribution. As a developer, how do I know that the API I need will actually be installed on the user's machine? I don't. With Windows I get a consistent set of APIs across all installations. (Except for the EU machines where WMP APIs are removed.)

Plus, point me to something HALF as comprehensive as the MSDN Library, for Linux.
