Ironically though, that would be trading one monopoly for another. While not evil today, all large corporations, especially public companies beholden to shareholders, become greedy and eventually fall down.

I love and use the majority of Google's tools, but don't put all your eggs in one basket. There will probably come a day when the things being said about Microsoft today will be said about Google.
