VISTA MEMORY MANAGEMENT???/
I UPGRADED MY RAM TO 1 GIG OR MORE, YET WINDOWS XP DOESNT MAKE MAXIMUM USE OF MY RAM. IT IS STILL ONE HALF FULL. HOW DO I KNOW??? WELL, ALL U NEED TO DO IS PRESS CTRL, ALT, DEL . A WINDOW WILL POP UP . CLICK ON PERFORMANCE TAB. YOU WILL SEE PHYSICAL MEMORY (k). YOU WILL SEE TOTAL, AVAILABLE, SYSTEM CACHE. TOTAL IS YOUR RAM TOTAL IN KILOBYTES. AVAILABLE IS PERCENT OF YOUR RAM DOING NOTHING. SYSTEM CACHE IS HOW MUCH KILOBYTES YOUR HARDDRIVE IS CARRYING FOR YOUR RAM. I SUSPECT THAT MICROSOFT IS SMARTING UP AFTER SO MANY GUYS ARE UPGRADING RAM TO ONE GIG AND ABOVE. DID MICROSOFT QUIETLY UPLOAD UPDATES TO US TO IMPROVE OUR MEMORY MANAGEMENT TO MAKE MAXIMUM ADVANTAGE OF OUR AVAILABLE RAM? MINE USED TO BE USING 400MB AND SUDDENLY IT IS DOING 600MB WHICH MEAN I HAVE LESS IDLE RAM LATELY. I HAD NT CHANGED MY OPERATIONS MUCH LIKE OPENING MORE PROGRAMS OR SUCH. I WAS DOING THE USUAL. I WANT TO SEE MY RAM USAGE UP TO CLOSE TO 900MB . I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT I SHOULD KEEP MY IDLE RAM ABOVE 100MB TO PROTECT FROM SYSTEM CRASHES. AM I RIGHT??? C'MON BILLY GATE, BEAM ME UP, RAM!!
