It was six years before I had to break down and get a copy of XP, which still doesn't get to see the internet. Hopefully I'll never need a copy of Visthog.

On the customer side no one is chomping at the bit for it, either. The graphics people are mildly interested, but most of them are McUsers and couldn't care less.

The only ones I see yearning for Visto right now are gamers and PR flaks. Even at that there won't be many titles out that use Vista capabilities for a long time.

If MSFT was disappointed by the uptake of XP, then I'd stand by to be really disappointed for the uptake of Vista. It's just more than most users need.

It's not MSFT's shark jumping episode but that can't be far down the road.
