But I?ll waste a few minutes on you. And the crickets will be chirping on this thread anyway, since it?s about IBM and Notes.

-- Any shared filesystem app. that does a decent job of managing file r/w locks. Doesn't matter what platform. Replication and sorting out document conflicts don't cut it.
-- MS Outlook for email and calendaring. I'd rather waste time on any security hits than waste time on the wonderful Notes interface.
-- Any forum software for discussion based collaboration. (vBulletin, phpBB, etc.).

For what our department does (as well as our cross orgs), all the above would do better than Notes. But sad to say, we are a captive Notes customer, with a LOT of seats. I?ve written Notes off as just one of the irritations I get paid (good) to deal with in this position.
