It's not just Don Rupert...
It's one of the other guys-I can't remember which one, but he always says that open source puts software programmers out of business. Assuming there was any real truth to that, those programmers need to do something else anyway if they can't deal with competition. Open source won't kill the software industry-it only benefits it. In theory, an open source application could put an ultra-lazy programmer out of business though if he/she didn't want to adapt to the dynamics of the marketplace.

People are still going to want to pay for products that are WORTH paying for.
