No one pays for IDE's
Yeah, that's true - however MS recently released the Visual Studio Express 2005 tools which are really slick - and they're free for individual developers to use. I have, in the past, paid for development tools myself - but for my own use or just tinkering around (or studying) those free tools are pretty compelling.
