I can't agree on that point. MS has been getting lame because there are no real threats to their desktop market since they managed to neuter Borland back in the 90's. MS products are getting larger in size and slower in speed because there is no one out there producing a better product.

Lack of innovation is a sign that the management needs a shake up. Jim Allchin's retirement is a good start, but I don't know if it is enough. MS needs fresh blood, fresh ideas.
