Makes sense to me
One of those MS Works type things even includes Word - which I
think is used most in Office. The average home user - and a lot
of business users could live with that and Outlook Express for
email.

We use macs and personally I liked Appleworks 5 and earlier
over Office. It's database was really really good - Filemaker lite.
We still have our billing and media lists running on it. We tried
full filemaker but found that the AW database met our needs and
was essentially free on all mac machines. WE just keep the main
databases on one standard mac with file sharing on.

We've had Office for many years but do not use it anywhere near
its potenetial. When Apple fouled up Appleworks with version 6,
we all started using Word for basic typing. Since we're in
graphcis we have all the page layout apps, which put any word
precessor to shame - at a steep price. when we need something
really nice it's done in Indesign now.

I do think that Apple has to hedge its bets. The loss of Office
Mac would hurt bigtime if MS decided to pull the plug. Since
they seem to have given up on Appleworks, I'd guess that this
iWorks thing will eventually include other businees stuff.
