Things could change

and it would be better for everyone if they did. MS has no real incentive for inovation when they are basically the only game in town. OO and WP barely show up on the radar screen. WP is to Word what Novell NOS is to a *nix IP network, the also ran's in fine print at the bottom of the page. If OO was not free no one would buy it. When Microsoft had Borland's office suite to worry about the quality of their work was much better given their resources than it is now.

What the consumers really need is a down a dirty competitor that can actually make Microsoft sweat bullets!
