Questions, questions

One of the arguments frequently used against Apple is that
Apple's product line is limited, and you're forced to buy fully
loaded machines, often with things you normally wouldn't have
purchased. Would adding in a bundled office suite have further
exacerbated this situation, particularly when the vast majority of
Mac users use Office?

---Speculating, did Apple restrict the channels by which the new
program was available in order to bring people into Apple
stores?---

Better speculation--why hasn't Apple made this a full-fledged
Office suite, with an equivalent of Excel (derived from FileMaker)
and the other components of Office? Could it have something to
do with that 5 year commitment from Microsoft to keep making
a Mac version of Office?
