Please try it to know it

Hype or not I think it is your right to know, decide, and decide objectively about this matter. Being a Ruby coder, I would like to ask Java developers to give Ruby a try for at least 6 months. If it makes sense to you then well and good. This exercise will be very beneficial because you could approach your Java works with an added and slightly different perspective. Remember there are up to 200 software applications running in a typical company and only one to three are large-scale enterprise wide application. It MIGHT be practical to use scripting language like Ruby in some of those small applications. Also, in my humble opinion in which I could be wrong, these scripting languages are available in far more platform than Java (no readily or up-to-date BSD port).
