To me, this action (or non-action) by IBM just reinforces what I've suspected all along - IBM doesn't really care about open standards so much as using open standards as a weapon against Microsoft Office. It's obvious (again, to me) that IBM doesn't want to see ODF succeed so much as it wants to see MS Office fail (or at least become marginalized). That's why IBM is protesting the possibility of MA accepting Microsoft's XML document format along with ODF. The only way for an IBM competitor to Office to succeed is for Office to be eliminated from the competition, and IBM knows it.
