Good post Roger, but....
Microsoft isn't coming to the ECMA to draft a new document format standard - they already have one that is defined in a 1900 page <ocument. It's a done deal. There will be no changes. Office12 will ship in 2006 and *it will* use this new XML standard. It's a take it or leave it deal.
From your post, it sounds like you think this committee will be drafting a new standard - they won't.
