The real Problem is....
The real, and most pressing, problem here on any software and hardware DRM is our congress. They have been bought off by the MPAA and RIAA thugs that have managed to convince our easily manipulated senators that the American business of Music and Audio recordings are being ripped off at every corner and by taking away our Fair Use rights would restore them to greatness.

Also, the larger problem is that the average consumer doesn't read technical articles and I can tell you that if I ask 20 people I know -"What is DRM?" or even "Digital Rights Management", most, if any, wouldn't have a clue.

Unless massive amounts of consumers rise up and write to their congressmen/women and tell them how they feel, then nothing of any significance will result. Laws need to be changed to give back the fair use rights that we USED to enjoy but have been removed. Congress needs to write laws stating that any type of spy ware, such as Sony BMG's root kit, are unlawful, and until that happens, big business will continue to extract money from us at every turn.

These Audio/Video companies want to be able to tell all of us what we can see and hear, when we can see or hear it, and under what circumstances with what hardware we can use.

I won't purchase any hardware or software that contains restrictions such as DRM. If everyone did that the laws would be changed. The USA has always been a technology leader and these DRM controls being installed into Windows and I fear hardware will only stifle innovation.

I wish I could be more positive but I fear the worse will result. One morning the general consumer will wake up and say "Hey! What happen to our rights?" After they were all taken away.
