Even if there wasn't serious blow back, the DRM scheme didn't work, it didn't protect 1 unwanted copy or sell 1 extra CD.

All it did was annoy people who had bought the Sony CD.

It's just not worth it, look at Sony Connect, it's ranked about 20,000th most popular site by Alexa, while EMusic is 1500th. eMusic sell MP3, Sony sells blah. Now that shouldn't be, Sony ARE a major music company with MP3 players, yet a smaller startup walks all over them? Its the DRM, nobody wants it, it doesn't work.
