A lot depends on BOTH the state of Linux and the state of Longhorn
one year from now. And, lets not forget to factor in the brewing document format wars of Open Document vs MS Office XML. If Open Document gains a lot of traction in governments and large corporations, there will be less reasons for people to migrate to Longhorn. You will likely see a lot of corporations staing pat with 2000/XP. Probably more important than how many governments / corporations will use Linux on the desktop, is how many will use OpenOffice or one of the other suites that saves in OpenDocument format. That is a more important battle. If Microsoft loses that battle, they will be significantly weakened. Look carefully at the way they behaved in Massachusettes.
