Concerns Mr. Murphy's discussion of major changes coming in hardware and the programming model required to make best use of those changes.
I'd commented that Windows would be very large in that situation, because it would have to include the new operating system, the old operating system necessary for legacy applications, and the software needed to run the old operating system.
That does in fact seem to be an available approach. From this article:
Software Assurance customers will also have exclusive access to Virtual PC Express, a feature of Windows Vista Enterprise that lets users run legacy applications on a legacy operating system in a single virtual machine.
Individual users will need something similar in the event of major hardware change.
Appears this route will be available to Microsoft, and, because so much has been accomplished already, could be the most likely approach. - Posted by: Anton Philidor Posted on: 09/15/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
