Every heard of encryption??? And, Google enjoys a very high trust rating.
I agree we all need to keep our eye on Google, but trusted web services are comming, just like we already have trusted banks and credit card companies. Maybe we need something like the FDIC for online companies to pay out all the costs for compromised personal information that is online.

And, right now, you trust your information to a Microsoft on easily hacked computers connected to the internet. Encrypted data on Google will be 2 orders of magnitude safer.

Wake up and smell the coffee.
