Patent reform: Who's on first?

Maybe not: Proprietary code is always protected. The real problem with patents is the "theft" of concepts. Source code in itself is already protected by copyright, being patents warranted for a few select sophisticated alogrithms, which in turn can also be branched and/or translated.

It's a scandal that companies like MS can afford to mimic existing ideas, and are then allowed to issue a patent on such borrowed ideas. Adaptation of XUL into XAML comes to mind.; Posted by: Anti_Zealot Posted on: 09/13/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
