The current version is 7, so they're not skipping versions.

As far as major vs minor versions go, it's up to them whether they think the changes are major enough to warrant a change to the major number.

OK, so they increment the major number faster than you're comfy with - how is that being "dishonest"? The numbering does seem to follow a pattern, after all: They incremented it when OpenOffice.org went from 1.0 to 1.1, and I'm sure they'll do it again when OpenOffice.org releases their next stable version.

The truth is they do, in fact, have a rhyme & reason for incrementing the number. Sure, you're uncomfortable with it, but since when did your discomfort translate to them being "dishonest"?

And oh, yes, the 2.0 of OpenOffice.org is a pretty big change, as it includes a completely new database application instead of the previous version where the database functionality was extremely limited.
