Except...
We already know that recent versions of StarOffice are based on OpenOffice.org. It appears that SO 7.0 is based on one of the OpenOffice.org 1.1 releases, which aren't so different from the 1.0 series (on which SO 6 is based) that Sun could justify calling it a major release.

I haven't tried a OOO 2.0 beta yet so I can judge whether it justifies being called a major release.
