I agree completely on this! As a consultant I've ran into so many situations where someone was placed into a management position based upon having been a good tradesman. They are completely different skill sets. Being a great mechanic doesn't mean you have the mind set or skills to run a shop full of mechanics, helpers, parts buyers, vendor selections, etc...
