You need to gain some internal cohesion in your arguments.

You state that a non-patented piece of software can only be sold once and thereafter will be forever copied.

You buttress this outrageous piece of assumption by claiming that it is "human nature" for people to never pay for something they can get for free.

When presented with the only emperical evidence of a similar happening that refutes your argument you dismiss it as irrelevant while simultaneously claiming to know the purchasing motives for the individuals involved - impressive.

Let us untangle a smidgen shall we?

First claim: Unpatented software will (likely) only be sold a small amount before being rendered useless as an economic item by virtue of being copied. note how I brushed up your emotive statements just a tad to allow your obvious intellect to shine through more clearly - and I do so free of charge

Refutation: No evidence of copying destroying a comparable item (music CD's) of IP. Rather all data points to an increase in revenue by the content owners.

Your counter claim: Irrelevent (no supporting evidence) and motives for purchase are for better quality (again no supporting evidence) than the copy.

let us now grant you the point about motive for a brief second and reposte with:
So what?

A sale is a sale is a sale.
owner of IP has enjoyed an increase of income in the face of widespread copying.

Your defence of software patents as a bulwark of economic necessity to stave of the threat of multitudes of copiers is thus rendered....
