You are contradicting yourself
You point to what you call software patents that you think are valid while calling one click, which is also patented, a joke.

I don't know about GE xray machines for hospitals, so I won't comment on them, but HP printer drivers are another story. I *might* go along with it if you consider the printer and driver as comprising a single invention, a printer, but I think you are looking at this as patentable software, and that is where you are wrong. I would say that HPs implementation of the printer driver is not patentable by what I would call an invention. The software can be separated from the printer, and software could be written to communicate with the printer without even taking apart the printer, and there are legal ways to legally reverse engineer how the inklevel status makes itself available to be monitored. The software is just an implementation of a method to communicate with the printer. The only thing that might prevent better implementations of this driver (and that is just what software patents prevent) is the power of HPs legal department. The fact that the software is plug replaceable makes it in my opinion, not patentable by itself.

All you do is pick the software related patents that you say are worth something and call the others a joke. I say they are all a joke unless the device needs it to function, and it can't be physically separated from the device or replaced with other software. The printer driver fails this one. Can you name just one piece of software that stands on its own as a patentable device?
