Pickett's Charge; the Charge of the Light Brigade

Disillusionment has set in.

The moment I read long ago of Mike's plan to run his entire operation on Longhorn alpha, I knew that I was seeing an example of courage and devotion of historic proportions.

I opened my copy of Tennyson and I read that hymn to executive policy impact:

'Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!' he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

Was there ever a more perfect example of the relationship between employer and employee?

Not until Mike Cox and the Longhorn Alpha.
If only Tennyson had waited until the real thing came along.


But now it turns out to be a pilot program, and funded by the Microsoft rep.
