Didn't say it in my post, but that is a very big issue that nobody seems to realize. Maintaining a central application and DB is so much less time consuming than a bunch of little apps with redundant data. A whole segment of the computing industry has been created just to do the function of keeping little apps and DBs all thinking the same thing.
