What a pile of...
"Scripting (languages are) just getting more popular and powerful simply because they're easy to use," said Tim Huckaby, CEO of consulting firm and Microsoft partner InterKnowlogy.

Now you said something that can still be dumber. No scripting langauge is simpler. Think about what "simpler" means. In fact, they are frequently arcane and not safe for construction of solution. The program scripted is more difficult to debug. They perform worse, but for the purposes scripting languages are used... performance is sufficient.

The one who claims they are easier simply did not try any OO language or at least C or Pascal - far cleaner than any scripting language.

And by the way JavaScript, VBScript are also languages that help but far from safety or ease of use. I can tell at least about one case of debugging that creator could not figure ourt what was where and how it worked. Now with compiled OO languages at least there is a check if one did not do completely dumb things (yes you can still put your fancy factory method pattern still not understanding what it is for.. like many developers seem to do).

I claim that easy to learn and use was Basic of eightiees (and yes I know it as my roots in programming are a bit longer than average IT person these days - wnet throu quite a few languages over my career).

The real reason of scripting language use is quick and dirty coding for quick, dirty and immediate solution. That discounts one important factor of software development: maintainability not to mention some other issues.

Say what you want but CGI written in C had problem of lag in loading and perhaps resources. However nobody seemed to address this issues as making cheap labor for folks with disposable minds who could monkey type HTML, JavaScript, VBScript and few others took priority over improvement of technologies with known issues.
