MySQL is absolutely free. The only way you will have to pay for a liscence is when you want to change the product and do not want to share the code. If your stuff is open source no liscence is needed. So what are you talking about? I'm not saying it's better then postgresql just that it's free. I never liked the bsd style liscence because to me it's an open invitation to take other peoples code without respecting their copyrights.
