In my experience Oracle on Windows has been faster than Oracle on Solaris given Solaris boxes costing much more than the Windows machines.

If that's not enough of a selling point, I've had to tweek the stored procedures and functions to suite the Solaris implementation. The Windows implementation of Oracle has been less finicky about what I do.

Given all the talk about Unix speed over Windows, I was very surprised.
