OSS is about choice
You miss understood. OSS is about choice. PostgreSQL, MySQL, Linux, etc are OSS and based on choice (Free as in free to make a choice).

MS and their products are about wringing every last nickel out of their customer base. Why sell just an MSSQL license when you can sell an MSSQL license and a W2K3 and then the SA6 to go with it?

Linux OS $0
Being able to tell your pushy, arrogant MS rep to "get lost".... Priceless!
