Actually its all about choice
The user should be able to decide what OS they want to use EVEN if their choice makes no sense to anyone else. So why would one want to use Postgre SQL on Windows? One could equally ask why one would want to use a word processor on Linux. But in my opinion ALL applications should run on ALL OS's and the user should be able to choose independent of outside elitist interference what combination they prefer. A huge problem right now is the seamless vertical software monopoly weilded by Microsoft. That is just plain wrong in everyway and we should not be bringing that concept to free software.
