I'm running RAID 1 actually ...
I need redundancy and the ability to swap a drive if necessary with opening my PC case. I was doing this previously using USB, but the difference in speed between USB and eSATA is significant. I also had problems with disk corruptions with USB 2.0 that are no longer a problem with eSATA. Every external drive I have ever used has been a pain in the neck until these things came out. They are rock solid. So far I have migrated four of our PCs to SATA and plan to do more in the future. One has to experience it to appreciate it.
