In addition to your point, I'll state flat out that 95% of the population just doesn't need the speed. Contrary to the article very few people have enough photos to notice the speed difference. Even fewer ever bother to backup anyway.
USB (and even more so firewire) drives are already fast enough to record a sigle stream of SD video. So realistically, how many consumers will ever need the additional speed? Sure it will be nice, and as it becomes the standard it will get adopted, but not because people understand or need it, just because it will be what's on the shelf at CompUSA.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it and am one of the few who will appreciate it, but I think this article is making an issue where there is none. By the time many people are recording HD video and simutaneously recording and watching video (ie when the media server in the living room responsible for recording and serving all media content finally becomes a reality) the standard will already exist.
So where's the chicken, and where's the egg and who even cares? Us "case crackers" already have this, and the rest don't care. - Posted by: shraven Posted on: 12/20/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
