that is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it? All of
the compression methods leave a lot to be desired in the quality
department. As far as I can tell all you are doing is taking an
already inferior recording and making it a little bit worse.

Loss-less compression is the only way to go with music. The
files are still pretty big but storage is cheap these days. Take up
arms and refuse to buy the inferior music sold by these services.
Buy only full quality music. Once the companies start getting
hurt in the wallet they will finally decide to come around.
