I don't get people like you.
I don't understand how people like yourself justify the way DRM is being handled today. Essentially, you pay MORE per song than a CD, you can't use it everywhere you can use a CD (I'm talking different players here, not portability), and as an added bonus you get less audio quality than a CD? There's no way around it, you are getting less and paying more. The genius thing about Apple is they have somehow made you HAPPY about this. This is why I refuse to use download services.

If the RIAA, MS, and Apple truly cared about fair-use (which by the way is why these programs that strip the DRM are actually LEGAL, so long as you are doing it to the music you pay for), they would create a standard that everyone could use; therefore all the manufacturers and distributors would be playing by the same rules. Which is exactly the business model that a CD, record, or tape was for ages and they managed to make money and everyone was happy. If the previously mention entities actually got together and made a universal DRM that allowed the user to play on any player on any OS that supported the standard and also allowed for backup copies, then these programs would be completely illegal because fair use would be satisfied. But these companies are more concerned with squeezing every penny they can out of the distribution channels, while in the process knowingly squashing MY fair use rights granted to ME by copyright law. Furthermore, they are lobbying congress to take away my fair-use rights that have been around for decades. If they cannot respect my rights, why on earth should I ever respect theirs?
