Win32 limitations
Win32 is limited to 3.2 Gb or memory. Actually, if you want more than 2 Gb, you have to mess with the Registry or it won't be "seen" by the OS. A full 4Gb of memory will NOT BE SEEN by Win32.

If you need more than 3.2 Gb of memory - then you need 64 bits. Only high-end computing (graphics) would qualify for this. Once again games will be leading the way, as you could ray-trace the "next level" and keep it in memory - so as to have NO discernable changes between "scenes". This "fluid motion" capability could be quite nice - and it would sell a bunch of software . . .
