RE: First three viruses released...
>... wild were MAC viruses. I'm not suprised that a MAC aficianado has a short memory when it comes to problems relating to his favorite platform.

Not quite ShadeTree... go read a book on it or better yet, just google it. The first 3 viruses that could exist "in the wild" were written at Texas A&M (I believe) for the Apple II. It was an experiment in the ability for a program to reproduce itself. The virus was a small variation created in Apple DOS that allowed it to act virally. It was spread via floppy disks formatted using the II's default method. Version 1 of the file was quarentied due to adverse affects. Version 2 did eventually get out but had no negative impact (believe it cased a single game to quit, but that's about it.) Version 3 also got out, but again, no negative impact.

I'm not sure if this woule be considered 3 viruses or 3 strains of a single virus (really just 3 versions.) Additionally, this all happened in 1982... 2 years before the Mac.
