Imagine it? I simply did it.
Just download Open Office and use it. Unless you really need some serious training in clicking a mouse and selecting from drop-down menus, it's hard to imagine what this training you're speaking of is. Let's see... one click means, two clicks means... Yeah, sure would be tough turning loose an untrained Office user in this brave new land. As a matter of fact, roughly half the people I work with never received Office training either - wonder how they ever managed from zero.

I'll give you this. If you're a native German speaker and the menus are in English, this could present a challenge, and I'm not sure the article addresses the issue.

As for "transferring information", my approach is don't do it. I just leave everything in Office formats, to allow free exchange of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, etc. You can have the system convert files to xml if you want, but that's entirely optional.
