Have you used Open Office? It's pretty close to Microsoft Office in layout, the menus for the most part are pretty self explanitory. I don't see the problem. I have placed several people on Open Office with no training or an occassional prompt that's it. Within a matter of hours they were zipping around doing what they needed to to.
As for Linux, unless you have any recent experience with Gnome or KDE... the menus are far more intuitive than Microsoft OS's.
Click on the K and viola! You are presented with the following: (top down on my laptop...)

I would list the Windows menu, but I have modified mine for me... so I can't use my boxes but since we all have Windows experience, I don't think I need to demonstrated how cluttered and messy the Windows menu is by deafault. And for the record, with the exception of the Windows Application on my menu on my SuSE 9.2 Pro Linux laptop, I have done no modifications to it. It's stock.
So your argument falls flat in my opinion. So far every person that I have shown Linux to, whether they switched or not, has said they like the menu and were impressed with how easy it was to navigate, they were really impressed with the mutilple desktops AND true multi-user capability.
Now in reply to the story, this is a good way to make the move, don't force either choice, but offer the option. Let the user select what they are comfortable with. - Posted by: Linux User 147560 Posted on: 01/25/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
