Debian?... I question your question....
Why not? Debian & Debian based are my favorites
I seems to me that the very first distros were Slack & Debian, although I could be wrong.
Even though RH, Suse, Mandrake might be better known to the general public, It seems to me there might be far more Debian users and distros, Free & Commercial, whether they know it or not. Linspire, Xandros, Ion, Knoppix, Mepis, Morphix, Helix, UserLinux, Ubuntu, Yoper, etc, etc, etc. So why the dislike of Debian?

Only for hackers... hardly some of the best desktop & casual user distros are based on Debian......
