I understand Mike. And I sympathize. After your meeting, your Dell Rep came to my offices to meet with us. He was of course late due to the fact that your electronic door security locks (which run WinCE, and kept blue-screening) prevented him from leaving. He also was not sure how to get here, so when he called me I had him boot into SuSe on his Laptop. After waiting for the 1.5 second boot, he opened his open-source road map software and it was not only able to direct him here, but drive the car for him as well. But then he also had to swing by Mike Dell's house to pick him up. (He says "Hi.")
Our meeting started slowly as he had to readjust from using patronizing speech like "No, clicky-click the mousey-thing on the GREEN little picture HERE." His IQ points were able to raise to normal levels as we used words like "stability" and "secure" that he didn't get to use yet that day.
He also was slightly upset that he wasn't able to go out and get coffee, a donut, a restroom break, lunch, and catch a movie while waiting for our newest server to boot. He had gotten used to being able to do that at his previous meeting I guess.
He disappointment only grew when he remembered that being a Linux shop, we only needed 1 mid-range SuSe server to take care of our 100,000 employee department and all our customers; which needs to run 24/7/365. (He's used to his customers purchasing many more boxes than that.)
One good thing about the SuSe OS is that our 2 RHCEs (we DO need 1 for backup in case the other is sick) that manage all the servers in the corporation across the globe (I believe there's 3) already know the distribution inside and out.
With our excessive budget due to excessive revenue and minimal expenditures, we were able to cheer him up by treating him dinner and a Lexus. That helped... and that Mr. D. promoted him to VP of Penguin Services for doing such a good job.
