Anti-Marketing
If RedHat treated Dell in the same way that they treated "us", then I can see why they did it. Here I work for the 5th largest corporation in the world, which was looking at Linux in a big way. We needed some demo licenses to load on servers to check out the Red Hat offering. We purchased 10 licenses (I think), and after 6 months of testing, Red Hat was demanding that we audit our systems and pay for ALL the licenses that we had running. Needless to say that you don't approach it that way - in a big corporate world, Red Hat SHOULD have been DROOLING at the thought of thousands of Red Hat licensed servers running - but it was penny-wise and pound foolish (or just PLAIN foolish), and tried to muscle the golden goose. When SuSE came in, they were VERY accomedating - even sending the author of Y@ST to work with us. All this, without demanding license fees. They played nice, and now they own the contract.
