So the programmers are so smart, how could Linux beat them on clusters????
Answer: Management. I would agree with you, we can not blame it all on the programmers at Microsoft, many are very inteligent. The problem is the management insisting on lock-in and monopoly maintenance above all else. Programmers are asked to do a lot of things that make ZERO sense, such as bolting apps to the OS so you can not remove them. They are also forced to leave security problems in the OS (ActiveX) because it helps maintain lock-in. In the end, not really a problem with the programmers at Microsoft. Sorry if I implied that. A lot of what they are asked to do is very short sighted.
