when you consider how long it's take MS
Considering Microsoft's take almost 25 years to get where they are today it's pretty impressive what Linux has done in 10 years.

Marketing is Key though. If such marketing exists it plays off not only the consumer but the software dev guys. When the Apps go Linux that will be the day Linux is really passing Windows.
