- insult Windows ME, It insults itself!
-
I want an operating system that doesn't have to be reinstalled every 3 months because of very poor coding. Lets go up the windows chain:
Windows 3.1(3.11): Great operating system for it's day. Not very good on the networking part though. 16 bit programs could make it unstable.
Windows 95(b): Major improvement on everything. Very stable for the day it was released. Had adequate networking support.
Windows 98(se): Integrated IE4 which made it horribly slow compaired to 95. Basically, it has a better LOOK, and alittle more stable with gaming.
Windows ME: One of the fastest booting operating systems that microsoft has made. They just started getting into the idea that DOS had to go. The only problem is that a few bad shutdowns or letting it run for any amount of time caused the system to crash. (or by hooking up any device to it). After the course of 3 months, it's barely able to boot up.
Windows 2000: Great operating system for stability and ran very nicely for it's day. It was great because it was the first operating system that if something crashed, windows MAY recover it. Games didn't like it much though.
Windows XP: The easiest operating system to do anything on. Not as stable as 2000, but close. Very good for gaming. The biggest downfall to this operating system is that microsoft decided to bundle Internet Explorer 6. IE6 has way too many bugs to be considered a good browser. Reports say that you can browser the internet for about 40 minutes before your computer is infected in one way or another (virus, spyware, adware). There are programs out on the market that can remove IE6, download Mozilla and use the program to remove it, and Windows XP can be your friend!
I wrote these out to show you the advantages and downfalls of each OS (very brief). The worst of all of them is ME. The best of all of them... thats up to the user.
