Two more years could give Linux 20% on corporate and government desktops.
They can not afford that. That would force them to cut price for Windows and Office by more than half, making profits a small fraction of what they were. They would also lose most of the application advantage and give Linux a huge opening. They would find it much much harder to get any corporation or government to use any new lock-in technology. Customers will smell blood and demand cross platform, standards based, solutions. Microsoft must produce, and they must produce NOW, or it's hasta la vista baby.
