Asking this question makes it obvious that you have never developed software - at least not anything more complicated than "Hello World".

Most of the folks complaining on this forum just DON'T GET IT. You have absolutely no idea how complex it is to develop and deploy a piece of software like Windows or any O/S. That they broke only 50 or so applications (that were listed) is just flat amazing. If you had any idea how many applications and different system configurations exist to which Windows is deployed it would boggle your mind.

Let's keep this all in perspective, folks. Keeping this technology running as it advances is INCREDIBLY complex. Microsoft should be APPLAUDED not CHASTISED for the rollout of this fix. If any other industry had a defect ratio like MS has they would be king-of-the-hill as well. 50 (or so) broken problems out of the millions that are out there is unbelievable quality control.

As for you Linux freaks - you aren't even in the same ball game here so flame away if you want to. We're talking major industrial production - not toy operating systems.

BTW - I am no Microsoft shill - I have been developing to their platforms for over 20 years and the progress that company has gone through (technologically) absolutely boggles the mind.
