RE: Microsoft: Vista feature designed to 'annoy users'
Can someone tell me how to configure my Linux machine so I can watch TV on it and use my TV with Linux on it? Can this be done without M$ software? I also have some great pictures of my recent trip to Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy to share with my family on my widescreen HDTV, which would be breathtaking. Any suggestions out there???

I have a dell machince and 3 months after I bought the machine the motherboard died and I replaced it with a new one no questions asked and I reinstalled XP home edition without a hitch. I believe that the motherboard was defective and not the OS. I clicked on a site to download a recipe from a Diabitic site that was loaded with code, but only this one recipe. I am diabitic and use these sites regularly and this is the only breach of my system other than spyware from doubleclick which I find almost everywhere I surf. I have norton security and they are by no means perfect, as well as Webroot Spy Sweeper. I have Vista which was shipped to me after I bought the machine and used it for a while and I liked it. What I didn,t like was that I have other users on this machine that did not and to keep peace I reinstalled XP. I still have my Compaq Presario I bought in the 1980,s and I can,t kill that machine running 98 on it. I have dumped and reloaded it so many times, but still it wont die. Tell me, really what annoys you people? There are only 80 something posts on this subject and I got one message out of it. SECURITY!! I have had a lot of fun learning about computers all these years and I have learned to use the system in a safe and secure way, and also deliberately not so secure to learn how to fix my mistakes. It's simple enough to pick and choose and I have talked to MAC people and used their machines and they are great, I have taken courses on Windows NT and configured UNIX to machines and found unix difficult. I have seen and operated Linux software and found all OS' to have the X button on the upper right of the screen to shut down the application in all of them. Tell me please how Iran was able to buy American Shampoo for resale in their stores, and the folks in DC are bickering with them about having Nuclear war stuff and we invented it. Tell me please if there waa Linux only what would you complain about? Gas prices? You continue to pay the price in order to get to work every day. Big profits there I suspect. The cost of Deisel fuel which is passed on to the price of eggs and bread that we prepare for our families daily. Ten Gallon of Ice Cream is no bargain if you are to entertain your child on his birthday with his friends and family. I was born in 1949 and my family had one of the very first TV's ever made. My first experience with a computer was with an IBM System 3, huge round floppies for backup as I recall. Security you say?? Most security companies nowadays employ former hackers, and these people are wizards on a computer. Tell me please what have all of you to complain about, after all we are just Americans ripping off other Americans. What a Country!!!! Let Freedom Ring!!!
